Saying Goodbye

Neils and my last day of work was January 8th and from that time until now I sort of feel like all we’ve done is say goodbye. To be quite honest with you, it’s been pretty difficult. We’ve had ‘one last times’ with some of our good friends in Pierre. We spent one night in Mandan with my one of my cousins and his family. We spent almost one week in Fargo with Neils’ mom. After my mother in law kicked us out of Fargo a day early so we didn’t get delayed by the weather, we drove to Minneapolis where we spent four days. We had a farewell happy hour with friends and several family meals with both Neils’ and my family.

The worst part about saying goodbye is the sad walk away. The hanging out part is always super fun, just as fun as any other time you’ve hung out. There’s laughing, sharing stories, card playing etc. But when the time comes for the party to break up and there’s the last hugs, the last “we’ll miss you’s", the last sad look as you depart…it’s that part that really sucks.

However, even though it was hard, we wouldn’t trade the memories made during our ‘retirement.’ We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for taking time out of your lives to hang out and say goodbye. We love you all, we will think of you often and we will do our best to share our adventures with you!

  1. Kara ...... I'm going to miss our chats on facebook, but this could not be passed up. My thoughts will always be on you and Neils. Both of you are great and outstanding people. Both of you will go far in this world. When I grow up I want to be just like you two. Take care, think of me ever so often, as I will think of you two always. Be brave, but have as much fun as possible. I'll be reading your blogs. Love you two.
